I like the way the Rockies are falling behind. And the Dodgers playing the Padres is good regardless of the outcome. Sure i want the Giants to be able to catch SD but having the Dodgers fall back farther is good too.
I think the key for the Giants is the continued success of Posey, Huff and Torres. If and when Panda and Sanchez do come around and start hitting again we'll start scoring in bunches. Especially if Uribe continues to pick his spots for those huge homeruns and extra base knocks with RISP.

That would explain it. They haven't shut him down yet, so hopefully it isn't too serious.

Report: Padres get Tejada from O'sEmail Print Comments Associated Press
SAN DIEGO -- A person familiar with the deal says the NL West-leading San Diego Padres have traded for Baltimore infielder Miguel Tejada.
Tejada The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither club had made an announcement Thursday. The person said Major League Baseball must approve the deal before it becomes official.
It wasn't immediately clear what the Orioles get in return for Tejada, who's hitting .269 with seven homers and 39 RBIs. The former AL MVP can play shortstop and third base.

Hah, indeed. He does cover the team full-time (travel and all that) so I'm guessing he hears quite a bit. Of course, beat writers don't always know everything. Maybe this trade will push Sabean to make something happen. BtW- being one hit at home on the same day that Posey loses his hit streak SUCKS @$$.

I'm not forgetting about them. I just don't think they're much competition this year if Posey continues doing what he's doing. I mean, Heyward only has three more HRs than Posey, and he was starting opening day and is supposed to be a power hitter. And the funny thing is, he was known for his huge bombs in batting practice, but if you look at his minor league numbers he never did have a big power year. Which is a bit odd to me since he already has the MLB body at 6-4, 220. Ike Davis is hitting about .250 and really is a tier (or two) below Posey and Heyward. Posey's biggest competition was Strasburg and Garcia. Garcia could still win it, but if Posey does hit over .330 with 15-20 bombs I think he'll walk away ROY.

I totally agree with you that Posey SHOULD win it, I just hope he can get enough exposure to get more votes than a decent player in NY.

I think the bias could help Garcia, but honestly, Davis isn't really that good. He has decent power but a .250 hitter is pretty mediocre. I really, really like Heyward, but he's not going to have the 25 HR, 100 RBI year many of us thought he could have. Posey, on the other hand, could have been an all-star had he started the year with the big club. And yes, I'm biased.

No doubt, especially since Molina is much more your typical defensive stud backstop compared to the hitting wonder of Posey. McCann is a talent and should be there, but Posey is a much better all star than Molina. I can't wait to see how good a defensive catcher Posey can become. He's already one of the best. Is he a gold glover? I can't wait to find out.
